## Path independence of line integrals

The line integral $\int_C \mathbf{F}\cdot d\mathbf{r}$ is path independent if $\mathbf{F}$ is conservative.
That is, if $\bfF = \nabla \phi$ in some region, then the line integral is unchanged if $C$ is deformed within that region.
